Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About Internet and Computer Privacy Control Software

Q.  What types of file history are on my computer?

A.  Windows tracks and records practically everything you do on your computer down to the keystroke and writes your computer activity history to numerous hidden files. Examples of these files are:

  • Temporary internet files
  • Browsing history files
  • Internet cache files
  • Internet cookies files
  • Peer to Peer (P2P) file sharing history files
  • Media player viewing history files
  • Instant messaging and chat history files
  • Online shopping and financial transaction history files
  • File access and retrieval history files

Q.  Windows has several file deletion options. Why don’t these options erase my files and privacy information?

A.  Many of Windows’ deletion options, programs, utilities, etc. do not actually physically delete the data or history file. They erase the information or keys identifying or pointing to the file, but the physical file still remains on the computer until it is overwritten, partially or fully, by another physical file. Until overwritten, these “deleted” files can be recovered by data recovery programs.

Q.  Why do I need to use Internet and computer privacy software?

A.  Very simply, Windows’ file deleting and erasing options do not work sufficiently or completely. Your personal browsing and computer activity are potentially subject to examination and review by family members, employers and other unauthorized individuals. Personal, financial and identity information can be easily compromised or misused by individuals using numerous data recovery, tracking and tracing tools available for the novice and experienced user. Information you thought was confidential and secure is not!

Q.  What are the benefits of Internet and computer privacy software?

A.  There are four major benefits to Internet and computer privacy software. These are:

  1. Remove personal and confidential information with the confidence that your private information is properly and totally removed.
  2. Reduce the risks of computer corruption associated with spyware and malware.
  3. Improve the speed and performance of your computer.
  4. Gain hard disk storage space currently filled with large history files.
